Our goal is to diversify the tech industry by empowering women of color with the skills and leadership tools needed to thrive in Philadelphia's rich tech community.
Philly Tech Sistas is a nonprofit organization that helps women of color gain technical and professional skills in order to work, thrive, and move up in the tech industry. We do this by providing technical skills training and professional development workshops that build leadership, confidence, and community. Our vision is to partner with industry leaders and tech companies throughout the region to provide a greater pipeline of diverse talent.
While women make up 57% of the U.S. workforce, they represent only 26% of STEM workers?!
Over the past 2 decades, the U.S. science and engineering workforce has become more diverse, but several racial and ethnic minority groups continue to be significantly underrepresented. Overall, Hispanics, Blacks, and American Indians/Alaska Natives make up a smaller share of the STEM workforce (11%).
We plan to change that, but we need your help!
Our programs provide a safe space for women of color to learn technical skills in a fun, social environment.
Our programs create space for women of color to learn new skills and be themselves in an inclusive environment so they can grow in their careers and achieve economic empowerment. Invest your time and resources in helping develop future tech leaders so companies can recruit them for apprenticeships and employment. Take a look at some of our volunteer opportunities below.
